When In Baltimore…

Okay, so everyone has wanted to know what we have in store for all of our local and international Reds for the Baltimore leg of the Reds’ North American tour.

Well, here it is – worts… and then some (parking and hotel info is at the bottom)

FESTIVITIES

Friday afternoon, we’re off to the training session at M&T at 3:30pm. This is a ticketed event. All tickets have been allocated and we unfortunately cannot issue any more. We will be handing out tickets to those that have already requested them at No Idea Tavern from 1:45-2:15pm and then outside the stadium from 2:45-3pm.

From there (around 5:30pm) we’re heading over to Sláinte Irish Pub in Fells Point for a night out, some songs and getting to know Reds from around the globe.

After a quick nap, it’s onto Saturday morning’s pre-game at No Idea Tavern in Federal Hill. Doors open at 7am (that’s East Coast time) with the outdoor block party opening up At 10am. Festivities carry on until noon after which we’ll be marching to M&T Bank Stadium in full song (and probably in full sweat, too).

After the game, it’s back to No Idea for more of the same.

We’re finishing off the day’s festivities at The Rams Head Live with more song and ale listening to a Beatles reggae tribute band – Yellow Dubmarine – that kicks off at 9pm (doors open at 8pm; pre-order you tickets here) with $2 of every ticket sold going to the Craig Willinger Fund

Then we sleep until Tuesday.

IMPORTANT UPDATES:

PARKING –

A question came in regarding parking on the day of the event. In a phrase – IT BLOWS!
OUR ADVICE: If you planning on driving to the match, find a parking garage. Here is a link to the parking garages in Baltimore where apparently you can pre-book your spot.
There are often informal outdoor lots that you can look for too, with a sign that has the fee d’ jour. Or, you can chance it and get a $105 “stadium event” ticket. They will get you. I know, I’ve gotten 2. Makes for an even more expensive weekend.
NOTE WELL: Ask about the length of time that you have before you are required to vacate the garage/spot. Some establishments/city residents reserve the right to tow you after that point.

HOTELS

Advice that is coming in for those of you that have yet to book a room, look into hotels around the Baltimore-Wahington International (BWI) airport. With the Otakon conference happening the same weekend, rooms are hard to find and the number of zeros on the end of the cost grow daily.
You can park for $15/day at some hotels and then take the hotel shuttle into town. Or look around and find someone with a jersey that has a Liverbird on its chest and see if you can share the cost of a cab.
You have the added benefit of not having to answer to a gentlemen is a blue uniform who might be inquiring about your alcohol in take for the evening.
It’s a big weekend. Baltimore’s finest ask that question a lot on big weekends.
