Liverpool faces City in Carling cup semi-final

In case you missed it:

The red men move on to the next stage of the league cup with a dominating 2-0 win at Stamford Bridge. Maxi Rodriguez scored the opener for the second time in 9 days and Kelly found the net 5 minutes later to help secure the win against Chelsea. Liverpool will meet City in the semifinals at Manchester on January 9, 2012 (first leg, 6 days after our league game at Etihad Stadium) and at Anfield on January 23, 2012 (second leg). The win did come with a price.  Holding midfielder Lucas Leiva, who has been essential to Daglish’s plans, was carted off the pitch due to a knee ligament damage that could keep him away for the rest of the season. Liverpool has recalled Jonjo Shelvey from his successful loan spell at Blackpool in light of this injury.
